Do You Have Pandemic Pores?
Stress! The current health crisis has led to altered lives with irregular schedules, odd work routines, and disrupted sleep. Several of my clients are experiencing skin issues that I am calling “Pandemic Pores.” The stress inside our bodies is showing up on the outside. While I cannot end the pandemic or make the stress factors go away, I can share some tips to help you support healthy-looking skin during these times.
Three Signs You Have Pandemic Pores
Dry, Dehydrated Skin – Our skin cannot function properly without adequate hydration. When you notice skin tightening, flaking skin, and dryness, then it is time to hydrate your skin. Be sure to drink plenty of fluids and use a moisturizer to keep your skin supple.
Quick Fix: Bump up your moisturizer with an added hydrating serum or non-pore-clogging facial oil.
Blackheads Emerging – Blackheads form when a hair follicle becomes obstructed or plugged with dead skin cells and oil. This matter then begins to oxidize (turn black) by the air and thus, the word blackhead. On the other hand, clogged pores may look like blackheads, but a different process on the skin surface is what is causing your skin pores to have that dark appearance. Here is what you can do to help minimize the appearance of clogged pores and blackheads.
Quick Fix: Begin a skincare routine or get back on track with your morning and evening skincare routines to regulate oil production. Exfoliate twice per week, and please do not sleep with your makeup on.
Jawbone Acne – Acne breakouts along your chin and jawbone typically occur because of hormones. These chemical messengers travel throughout the body and influence various body processes. The level of hormones in the body constantly fluctuates in response to external stimuli. Heightened levels of stress are associated with acne breakouts and occur in adolescence through adulthood.
Quick Fix: Treat occasional breakouts with an acne targeted treatment. Take time to meditate and manage stress.
Try some of these quick fixes to help get your pandemic suffering skin pores under control. Please reach out to me, if you would like a consultation for a customized skincare regimen. I would love to share my skincare knowledge with you and help you to focus on a goal-oriented facial skincare program.
